Faults in Bronx Buildings and Homes
The Bronx is a mix of multi-family apartment buildings and older one- and two-family homes, and the repairs reflect that split. In the buildings we get called for recurring breaker trips that nobody can pin down and for dead outlets and faulty lighting in hallways and common areas — the shared circuits that everyone uses and no one wants to be without.
In the older homes the story is age: a lot of Bronx houses still carry fuse-era wiring, or panels that were converted from fuses to breakers without the rest of the system catching up. Two-prong outlets, undersized circuits and brittle insulation lead to flickering lights, warm switch plates and breakers that trip the moment a modern appliance comes on.
Both problems reward fast, methodical fault-finding over guesswork. We trace the recurring trip back to the actual short, overload or loose connection, repair the dead common-area circuits, and replace what the fuse era left behind — making it safe and bringing it to code. Where a permit is needed we file with the NYC DOB, and utility-side work is coordinated with Con Edison.
