Can you add recessed lighting without damaging my brownstone's plaster ceilings?
Yes. We plan the layout around medallions and cornices, cut carefully into the plaster, and patch so the ceiling reads as original. The goal is light that fits the room's character, not cans dropped in wherever it was easiest.
Can you rewire and restore an original chandelier or sconces?
Often, yes. Period fixtures are worth keeping, and we rewire and re-hang them safely on modern circuits with proper support and boxes — so the originals that give a brownstone its character keep working without the fire risk of brittle old wiring.
Should I do lighting during my renovation or after?
During, whenever possible. With ceilings and walls open we can run under-cabinet, recessed and dimmable circuits cleanly and put boxes exactly where they belong. Doing it after the millwork and plaster are back always costs more and looks more patched.
Is lighting work in Brooklyn permitted and inspected?
When the scope requires it, lighting and circuit work is filed and inspected through the NYC Department of Buildings, with Con Edison service kept intact. We manage the filing and hand you the Certificate of Electrical Inspection at the end.
